Clint Eastwood’s daughter produces new film in N.M.

Kimber Eastwood applies a fake bullet wound to the forehead of an actor before the scene. Eastwood began her career as a makeup artist.

Kimber Eastwood grew up in a Hollywood family. In fact, Eastwood cut her teeth as a makeup artist on shows like “Wheel of Fortune.”

But the daughter of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood is trying to make a name for herself with her latest project — the science fiction film “Dominion.”

The film follows Jalen, an observer from another planet who is searching to find and rescue the human woman he fell in love with before it all happens. Robert Case, a retired U.S. intelligence agent turned UFO investigator races to discover what the yet to be known “Dominion” has in store for the human race.

The project has brought Eastwood and her crew to the Land of Enchantment for filming. Eastwood is one of the producers on the film.

Scott Herald, project manager for the film, says the film was shot in Los Lunas, Placitas and in northern New Mexico areas such as Española. He says finding the locations around the state was one of the easiest he’s done.

“I’ve been in this business for years and when we were scouting for the film, I was amazed that there were so many areas that fit our needs,” he explains. “Because the film is science fiction, it was important for us to have a different feel.”

Crews stopped at the Mana Mini Mart in Los Lunas and Herald says the local community really supported the project.

“We found that the state really supports the industry, which was really nice,” he says. “The owners of the mart opened the business up to us and we were able to get the bulk of things done.”

While the project is in its early stages, Herald says there will be more cast members added as the production rolls along. The film currently stars Barry Lynch and Travis Hammer and the project hired nearly two dozen local workers. Hammer plays Jalen and Lynch plays Case.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Zoe Saldana is slated to star in the film, but Herald couldn’t confirm.

Herald says Eastwood came out for a week of filming in New Mexico and even pitched in with doing some of the actor’s makeup.

“She was very hands-on and jumped into the production,” he explains. “She had a really great time on set and was happy with what we got captured.”

Herald says the film is slated for a 2013 opening and he is looking forward to seeing it finished.

“This has been a really great cast to work with,” he says. “We work so fast in this business that sometimes we get attached to the projects and this is definitely one that has done that for me.”

The film is being produced by Thunder Bay Entertainment and was written by Richard Lowry and Erick Hansen. It is directed by Lowry, who has more than a dozen sci-fi credits to his name. For more information on this film visit, www.facebook.com/dominionfilm.
