Inside the Halls of Government: Heartburn edition

In Saturday’s paper, I wrote that the state Public Education Commission will re-vote on two charter school renewals because of an alleged violation of the Open Meetings Act.

The story included this quote, by assistant AG Mark Reynolds, from the minutes of a Dec. 13 PEC meeting, speaking about voting early on two agenda items:
“Mr. Chair, I have absolutely no problem with that. That much is clear. I have much more heartburn with not hearing them today rather than tomorrow. Changing around like this, there’s absolutely no problem at all with that.”

That was relevant to the story, so I included it. What I didn’t include, but wanted to, was the quote that came next from then-PEC chair Andrew Garrison:

“And three of us had Frito pie for lunch, so we have heartburn too.”

See what you miss by not attending PEC meetings? Fortunately, that’s what you have me for.
