Back in 2005-06, there was a fierce bidding competition for the contract to manage Los Alamos National Laboratory between teams led by Lockheed Martin and Bechtel. The Bechtel-led team won.
But that was then, and this is now, when – all flowers and happiness – Bechtel and LockMart have found a way to just get along. From Frank Munger at the Knoxville News Sentinel:
A team headed by Bechtel and Lockheed Martin has been selected to manage two of the nation’s key nuclear weapons facilities — Y-12 in Oak Ridge and Pantex near Amarillo, Texas, according to multiple sources familiar with the pending announcement.
The new contractor will be called Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC.
