The long-vacant department store space at Coronado Center is getting new life.
Dick’s Sporting Goods and Gordmans, an apparel and home decor chain, are moving into the old Macy’s spot, Coronado’s General Manager Randy Sanchez told the Journal on Wednesday.
Sanchez said he expects each to open by late fall.
Dick’s will take over the first level of the three-floor space, while Gordmans will move into the second.
The old Macy’s on Coronado’s west end has been empty for nearly seven years.
Gordmans is new to the state. The Omaha-based company is often described as an “off-price” retailer, though the company defines itself as an “everyday low price retailer” of name brand clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods.
Dick’s, meanwhile, is expanding its Albuquerque presence. The Pennsylvania-headquartered chain opened its first Duke City store last March on the city’s West Side.
