Update 9:10 p.m.: The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at Alameda have reopened after being close for about five hours Sunday due to a crash.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at Alameda are shut down due to a five car crash, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.
Cars are being diverted to exit at Alameda. Traffic is backed up to Paseo Del Norte, a Journal photographer on the scene reports.
A driver apparently did not realize that another crash on I-25 at Tramway had slowed or stalled traffic, police said. The driver crashed into a car ahead of him or her, which caused a chain reaction of collisions involving five vehicles.
A woman was pulled from her car and is in critical condition at the University of New Mexico Hospital, according to police.
