Relax, chocoholics: See’s Candies hasn’t left Albuquerque.
As a Journal reader recently pointed out, the candy maker’s longtime location inside Coronado Center has closed, and its upper-level space near JC Penney is currently boarded up.
That’s because See’s is in the process of moving into a different storefront. Coronado General Manager Randy Sanchez said that See’s is headed to a larger space at the eastern end of the mall. See’s is hoping to open in its new space near Sephora on Feb. 1, he said.
In the meantime, shoppers can buy their nuts, chews and Toffee-ettes from a See’s kiosk near Sears.
The move is one of several shifts happening at Coronado.
Pandora, a jeweler known for its charm bracelets, will move into the old See’s space. It should open by May 1, Sanchez said.
The Children’s Place and Stacy’s Hallmark — currently neighbors on Coronado’s upper level — are each relocating to make room for Tilly’s. Tilly’s bills itself as “a leading specialty retailer in the action sports industry,” and sells clothes, shoes and accessories from skateboarding, surfing and motocross brands.
Children’s Place is headed to a larger spot across from Macy’s on the upper level, Sanchez said. The move should be completed by the end of January.
Starting in February, Stacy’s will set up temporary shop near Fuddruckers, Sanchez said. It will eventually move to the western end of the mall in what was once Victoria’s Secret and has most recently been an Oriental gifts store.
