Evolutionary Anthropology talk, Thursday at UNM

University of New Mexico anthropologist Hillard Kaplan will give a talk Thursday on “Aging and Post-reproductive Life in a Traditional World: Behavior, Physiology and Theory”:  7:30 pm Maxwell Museum/Hibben Center, free. From the news release:

Hillard Kaplan, UNM professor of Anthropology in Evolutionary Anthropology is presenting the latest results of his research in lowland Bolivia with Tsimane Native South Americans. The presentation of human life course evolution is based on Kaplan’s 10 year (and ongoing) study with Tsimane foragers-horticulturists.

The Ancestors lecture is Kaplan’s first public lecture in Albuquerque as he spends much of his time in South America supported by major grants by the National Science Foundation. Of interest will be results of his research on aging in developed, developing and traditional settings/cultures.

(Here’s a story I did a while back on Kaplan’s work.)
