Rio Rancho City Manager’s Job Attracts 30 Applicants

The second round of advertizing for the Rio Rancho city manager’s job drew 30 applicants from throughout the country.

The city re-advertized the position after the last round of applications, when councilors were unable to pick three candidates to recommend to the mayor.

The city charter requires the council to recommend a minimum of three candidates, the mayor then appoints one of those candidates.

Of those who applied this time, three did not meet the minimum qualifications, seven had previously applied for the job and two had been interviewed in the last round.

City councilors will receive applicants’ resumes today. They will have until Feb. 6 to submit their top eight candidates to the city’s Human Resources Department.
