Protesters Crowd into Mayor’s Office

Seventeen protesters filed into the mayor’s office this afternoon and tried to meet with him to discuss police shootings, the Police Oversight Commission and civil-rights matters.

But the mayor wasn’t there.

The group, led by Andres Valdez of Vecinos United, held a “sit in” of sorts for about an hour before leaving.

Representatives of the mayor said they would schedule a meeting with Valdez and that the protesters were welcome to stay as long they didn’t block any entrances to the office.
