Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham sent out a news release this week, announcing she will vote early today in favor of $368 million in capital funds for Albuquerque Public Schools.
According to the release, Lujan Grisham will vote at 11:30 a.m. today at APS headquarters (actually called the Alice and Bruce King Education Complex), and will vote in favor of the funding questions.
“I hope voters and particularly parents of Albuquerque students meet me at APS headquarters to vote for this major investment in our schools,” Lujan Grisham said in the release. “We can’t be complacent about our schools. We need a first-class environment for our children where they are encouraged to learn.”
The release doesn’t say whether Lujan Grisham lives in a school board district that is up for grabs in this election, or who she will vote for if she does. Not surprising. Superintendent Winston Brooks was pretty coy when I asked who he had voted for in the four-way race for District 6. Given that one of them is his future boss, I can’t say as I blame him.
