For the record, still no Niño

The whole point of an El Niño or La Niña forecast is to get a feel beforehand for the odds of the fall-winter-spring season being wet or dry. So given the fact that we already know things are dry this year, this morning’s month Climate Prediction Center outlook seems mostly like a quaint afterthought. But for the record, the current situation looks a little like La Niña (dry) but not quite, mostly technically “neutral“.
