A Closer Look: Los Alamos girls at Santa Fe

In Santa Fe’s 74-57 win over visiting Los Alamos on Wednesday, the Hilltoppers outrebounded the Demonettes, 21-17. On the offensive boards, Santa Fe also trailed, 8-5. … The Demonettes’ leading rebounder was Kayla

Herrera with five, followed by Andrea Gonzales with four. … For the `Toppers, Erin Kirk led the team with six rebounds; Amber Logan, five; and Kiana Zerr, four.

From the field, the Demonettes were 28 for 43 from the floor, including 2-for-4 shooting from beyond the arch. Santa Fe was also 16 for 25 from the foul line. The Demonettes were led in scoring by Kayla Herrera with 38 points on 16-for-22 shooting. She also hit 5 of 7 from the foul line. … Los Alamos went 19 for 46 from the floor and 5 for 18 from 3-point territory. From the free-throw line, the `Toppers were 50 percent (10 for 20). … Los Alamos’ leading scorer was McKenzie Logan with 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including going 2 for 9 from beyond the arch. Teammate Anna Scott followed with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 2 of 4 in 3-point attempts.

Santa Fe finished with 23 turnovers, while Los Alamos had 27.
