RIO RANCHO – The Internet has been good to Ed and Kim Smith. The couple’s Rio Rancho-based company Edit House Productions and its media division Ad House Advertising is on the crest of a technology-fueled advertising phenomenon.
“We’ve seen a steady increase in our video business but it’s really taken off in online advertising,” said Kim Smith.
Spurred by that demand, the company recently became qualified to be a Google Certified AdWords partner, with two staff members who are certified in the search and display advertising techniques that allow marketers to target audiences with pinpoint precision.

Recently, the couple moved their operations from leased space on Meadowlark Lane to a 1,700-square-foot office condominium they purchased at 918 Pinehurst.
The space is in one of two professional office complexes built by Rachel Matthew Development near the Southern and N.M. 528 intersection.
Ed Smith and his wife, Kim, who share backgrounds in advertising, launched their company in 2000 in their Rio Rancho home. They specialize in TV, radio and print ads, brochures, Web videos, documentaries, media buying and campaign development.
“We like to be ahead of the curve in equipment,” said Ed Smith, adding that their company produced a groundbreaking high definition TV commercial for New Mexico State Police.
Their client list includes local, regional and national companies, including ads for Harry and David gourmet gift baskets.
They also hold a contract to operate RioVision Community Access TV in Rio Rancho, which broadcasts City Council meetings and locally produced programming on cable channels in the city.
As their business grew, Ed Smith said they considered moving operations to Albuquerque to be closer to clients.
“But this is home,” he said.
