The Texas Legislature is considering a bill by state Rep. Lyle Larson, R-San Antonio, that would create a what sounds like a sort of campfire-singing happy collaborative space with its many neighbors over water:
“The concept is just to start the dialogue, start developing relationships with folks and look at the possibilities as other states to the west have got an ongoing discussion and are actually trading water,” Larson said. “I still think we can sit down and start developing relationships in those states out of Austin to their state capitals, that it could have a profound impact on our future water supply in the next 10 to 50 years.”
Also worth noting: Texas is suing New Mexico over the way we share the water in the Rio Grande.
