Gov. Susana Martinez is headed to Washington D.C. tomorrow for a four-day gathering of the National Governors Association.
While in D.C., Martinez will meet with officials from the National Nuclear Security Administration to discuss funding for New Mexico’s national laboratories and push to keep their missions intact, a Martinez spokesman told the Journal today.
She is also scheduled to meet with U.S. Department of Education officials and attend events hosted by the Republican Governors Association before returning Sunday to New Mexico, according to the Governor’s Office.
The scheduled departure time could mean Martinez will miss out on joining other governors in spending time with President Barack Obama and his wife on Sunday evening at the White House.
