Arson suspected in string of Roswell fires

ROSWELL (AP) — Investigators say they suspect arson in a recent spate of Roswell fires.

Roswell Fire Marshal Bill Wells told the Roswell Daily Record that there have been four structure fires in a one-block area during past six weeks.

Authorities say three of the four have been ruled as arson. In addition, there have been multiple small fires reported in the vicinity.

Wells says none of the buildings have been occupied, but authorities fear that someone could be hurt in the future. He noted that in the coldest months, squatters may inhabit vacant buildings.

No arrests have been made.
