‘Sixth Gun’ TV show to film in N.M.

A Western series is taking a chance on New Mexico.

According to the New Mexico Film Office, “The Sixth Gun” is set to begin filming in the state.

“The Sixth Gun” is the story of six mythical guns in the Old West. When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of the group, resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl named Becky Montcrief, dark forces reawaken. Vile men thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing Becky. Only Drake Sinclair, a self-serving gunfighter, stands in evil’s way.

The production is going to be a pilot from NBC/Universal Television. It stars Laura Ramsey, W. Earl Brown, Graham McTavish and Aldls Hodge.

Ramsey has appeared in “The Ruins,” Brown was in “Deadwood,” McTavish was in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and Hodge appeared in the TV show “Leverage.”

Production will begin filming in mid-March to early April in Santa Fe, Galisteo, La Cienega, Abiquiu and the surrounding areas.

It will employ at least 100 New Mexico crew members, 20 New Mexico principal actors and more than 400 New Mexico background talent.

The production is produced by Ron Schmidt, Santa Fe resident Tony Mark and executive produced by Carlton Cuse and Eric Gitter. Ryan Condal and director Jeffrey Reiner also serve as executive producers.
