5:30am UPDATE: Northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at Old Pecos Trail have reopened following the investigation of a wrong-way crash Monday night that injured several people, KOAT-TV is reporting.
Northbound Interstate 25 remains closed this morning after a wrong-way crash just north of Santa Fe injured several people, including a pregnant woman, KOAT-TV reported.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened near the Old Pecos Trail exit around 8:30 p.m. Monday when a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes hit two cars, Action 7 News reported.
Officials said several people were hospitalized, including a woman who underwent emergency surgery and delivered her baby boy prematurely at 29 weeks, according to KOAT-TV.
The baby was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque where it is now in the Neonatal ICU, Action 7 News said.
The wrong-way driver, whose name was not immediately released, told deputies she had been drinking, and she was being held at UNM Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, KOAT-TV said.
