Find $3,000 to save animals

Find $3,000 to save animals

THE (SANDOVAL) County budget article printed in the March 9, Rio Rancho Journal shows a $3,000 shortfall in the budget of Animal Control. The outcome implied is that more impounded dogs and cats will be euthanized — will die — because animal control will not be able to pay Watermelon Mountain Ranch to take some of these adoptable animals into the no-kill shelter. Three thousand dollars is nothing in a $17.1 million county budget. That amount can easily be raised in a fund set up specifically for the purpose by an existing 501c-3 group. Someone, step up and fix this situation.
