Woman wounded by gunshot, shooting scene uncertain

Officers were sent to the Women’s Hospital on Montgomery NE at 10:56 p.m. Saturday after a woman went to the emergency room with a gunshot wound in her back.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the woman said she had been shot while standing in front of the Donut Mart nearby and walked to the ER.

Officers found a vehicle in the hospital parking lot that was occupied by several people and had blood in it. Officers quickly determined the woman  had driven to the ER in the vehicle.

The shooting victim and the people in the vehicle provided several versions of how the shooting occurred. One account, which was discounted, was that it occurred at Twin Peaks. Another account was that it occurred at Fox & Hound Tavern, which also turned out to be false.

Police said they have not determined where the shooting occurred.

The shooting victim is in stable condition, police said.

Officers will continue the investigation.
