Albuquerque is getting a Michael Kors store.

The fashion brand will open its first Duke City location this spring at ABQ Uptown, mall management said on Tuesday.

The 1,993-square-foot store will open next to BCBG and carry accessories and clothing for men and women.

The Michael Kors company — named for the famous American designer known for his accessories, ready-to-wear clothing and stint as a “Project Runway” judge — has hundreds of stores throughout the world, but this is the first in New Mexico.

Michael Kors is among a few spring additions slated for ABQ Uptown.

Teavana — a specialty tea retailer owned by Starbucks—will also open at the shopping center. Teavana describes itself as “part tea bar, part tea emporium,” and offers more than 100 varieties of loose-leaf tea.

It will occupy a 1,000-square-foot space next to Gap.

“Choosing a site for a new Teavana emporium is a key element in providing our customers with the full Teavana experience,” a company spokesperson told the Journal via email. “We carefully consider many factors when opening a new store, but are pleased to confirm that a new store will be opening at ABQ Uptown in the near future.”

ABQ Uptown is also welcoming Toni & Guy, a hair salon and academy. Toni & Guy will take over 11,526 square feet next to The Melting Pot.
