Much of New Mexico braces for gusting winds

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico is bracing for a very windy day as forecasts call for gusts to top 60 mph.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for much of the state on Saturday, and the state Transportation Department is warning travelers about the possibility of reduced visibility along some highways.

The wind is the result of a powerful cold front and storm system that’s moving across northern and central New Mexico. The storm is also expected to bring colder temperatures and some light snow to the northeastern corner of the state.

The strong winds are expected Saturday afternoon into the evening hours. Visibility could be reduced to 3 miles or less.
