Kitchen closed at Marie Hughes Elementary due to mice

Students at Marie Hughes Elementary School are receiving sack lunches from the APS central kitchen today, after evidence was mice was found in the school’s kitchen.

APS spokesman Rigo Chavez said evidence of mice was found at Marie Hughes yesterday morning. Sack lunches were packed for students at the district’s central kitchen, and provided to students yesterday and today. An exterminator has been called, and the kitchen is being cleaned, Chavez said. Students will continue to receive sack lunches until the city certifies that Marie Hughes can reopen its kitchen.
