United Way recognizes longtime volunteer

United Way of Central New Mexico recognized Patrick Wilkins as the Arthur Spiegel Lifetime Achievement Award recipient during the organization’s annual meeting this week.

The award acknowledges Wilkins’ numerous volunteer roles with the group over the past decade, the organization said in a news release.

A member of the board of directors since 2008, Wilkins served terms as UWCNM’s secretary and treasurer, and was in the United Way Campaign Cabinet in 2012.

He has been a member of the Corporate Cornerstone Task Force, the Community Impact Council — chairing its Financial Standards Committee — the Allocations Panel, and a number of other committees. He has been a member of the United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society for over six years.

“In every role, Pat works to not only understand the details of the organization, but the larger community need that drives those details,” said Pat Vincent-Collawn, president and CEO of PNM Resources and outgoing UWCNM board chair.

The Arthur Spiegel award was established to honor individuals who have shown consistent high-level commitment to the community, including, but not limited to, involvement with United Way. It is named for the late Arthur Spiegel, the first recipient in 1997. He died in 1999.
