Santa Fe Selects New Arts Commission Director

Debra Garcia y Griego is the new director of the Santa Fe Arts Commission, Santa Fe city officials have announced.

A news release says Garcia y Griego was one of five applicants interviewed for the position. She replaces the recently retired Sabrina Pratt.

Garcia y Greigo has been a senior planner for the Arts Commission for the past dozen years. She has a master’s degree in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of New Mexico.

Garcia y Griego’s duties will include overseeing city funding of local non-profit arts organizations, operation of the Community Gallery at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, the Art in Public Places program and the Creative Tourism initiative.
