Border Patrol agents nab Va. fugitive

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the checkpoint on Interstate 10 west of Las Cruces last week arrested a Peruvian illegal immigrant who was wanted for sex offenses in Virginia, the Border Patrol said in a news release.

Gerson Pier Jara Gonzalez, 25, a citizen of Peru who was traveling to Long Beach, Calif, on a westbound Greyhound bus, was found during an immigration inspection to be a wanted fugitive in Dale City, Va., where he has two active warrants accusing him of aggravated sexual battery of a minor, the release said.

Gonzalez was taken into custody and turned over to New Mexico State Police pending extradition to Virginia.
