Eastern N.M. judge to retire on July 1

PORTALES (AP) — A judge serving Curry and Roosevelt counties is retiring, creating a vacancy in the 9th Judicial District Court.

Judge Teddy Hartley is leaving his position on July 1.

A bipartisan state nominating commission has set a May 22 deadline for applications.

The commission plans to meet May 31 at the Curry County courthouse in Clovis to evaluate the applicants and hear from the public.

Gov. Susana Martinez will appoint a replacement from among candidates selected by the commission.
