Johnny Juan Barela, a member of the Crazy Town Roswell gang who was wanted in the killing of Gregory Alonzo, was captured last Thursday by U.S. marshals in Phoenix, the U.S. Marshals Service New Mexico District said in a news release.
Barela is accused of stabbing Alonzo to death in a quarrel over money on March 18, the marshals release said.
According to the marshals, Alonzo was working in his yard with his family when Barela approached and stabbed Alonzo to death in front of several family members and small children.
Barela allegedly threatened to come back and kill all the witnesses, including the children, before he left the scene, the marshals service said.
Roswell police obtained a warrant on March 19 accusing Barela with murder and bribery or intimidation of a witness, setting a $1 million bond.
Barela fled New Mexico and was tracked by U.S. marshals and Roswell police officers to Phoenix, where deputy marshals placed him under arrest, the news release said.
