Albuquerque Public Schools spokesman Rigo Chavez said officials are expecting to reopen the kitchen at Marie Hughes Elementary kitchen tomorrow after no evidence of mice was found.
The kitchen was closed March 27 after workers spotted possible mouse droppings. Chavez said it turned out to be wall insulation. Crews, he said, could not reopen the kitchen until the health inspector paid a visit. The kids have been receiving sack lunches from the district’s central kitchen. He said the cost was probably “a wash” but the cafeteria staff at the school has been out of work and will not be paid for the time off.
