APS selfless seniors with pictures

Some of them are mentors to their peers with special needs. Some volunteer at Roadrunner Food Bank. Others have raised money for cancer research, environmental protection or other causes.

They all are this year’s Albuquerque Public Schools Selfless Seniors, who are nominated by the public and selected by the APS Foundation. The students all maintain a grade point average of at least 2.0, are in good standing at their high schools and give back to their communities.

Twenty-eight seniors were chosen this year. They each received a photography session with local photographer Frank Frost, and those photos will be posted at high schools, the airport and at businesses around town.

Phill Casaus, executive director of the APS Foundation, said that excellent nominations were made this year.

“This is the sixth class of Selfless Seniors, and I say with certainty that we’ve never had more depth in our nominations,” Casaus said. “Many of these students have rich stories of contributions to the world around them. It’s an honor to be part of that.”
