CLOVIS (AP) — Clovis city officials are urging residents and business owners to conserve water.
The eastern New Mexico city started voluntary watering restrictions on Monday. They will be in effect through Oct. 1.
The restrictions request that residents voluntarily not water their outdoor landscaping between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. with no watering on Mondays.
Odd-numbered addresses are being asked to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Even-numbered addresses get their turn Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Buckets, shut-off hoses and reclaimed water may be used at any time, but city officials are asking residents to avoid letting their sprinkler systems wash down sidewalks and pavement.
Other New Mexico communities have also imposed watering restrictions as drought conditions continue.
