Chat with Councilor Scott on Friday

District 4 City Councilor and Deputy Mayor Mark Scott will hold his next citizen meeting as part of his “First Fridays with Mark” series on Friday at Café Connection, 3751 Southern Blvd., from 1-2 p.m.

Scott makes himself available for residents on the first Friday of every month. He encourages District 4 residents and other residents to join him for lunch or a cup of coffee.

“At my April 5 meeting, I will be joined by Mark Fiedler of the Mark and Sheila Real Estate Team at Coldwell Banker Legacy Realtors to discuss residential real estate in Rio Rancho and the trends he sees,” Scott said. “Discussion will include not only home sales but first-time home-buyer incentives. The second part of the hour will be open to any general comments and suggestions to help make the city better.”

Help a puppy mill dog

Breeder Release Adoption Service, which rescues small-breed dogs from Amish puppy mills and breeder auctions, is holding an adoption and education event 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at Pet Food Gone Wild, 2415 Southern Blvd., Suite B.

The event will feature adoptable dogs that have been rescued and have started the reconditioning process, as well as pictures and information about what happens at Amish puppy mills and the economics that allow them to exist, said volunteer Laura Wilson of Breeder Release Adoption Service. Many of the rescue dogs are Yorkshire terriers.

A raffle and door prizes are also planned for the event.
