Movoto.com, the blog that devotes itself to “the lighter side of real estate,” has come up with a list of U.S. cities “Where Fashion Dies,” the worst-dressed cities in the United States — almost all located in “flyover country” and far from the fashion-minded cities on the coasts.
Wouldn’t you know that our own beloved Albuquerque comes in No. 7 on the list.
In order to determine which cities are likely to have the worst-dressed residents, Movoto.com looked at criteria like these: high-end clothing stores per capita; high-end jewelry stores per capita; and high-end shoe stores per capita.
The blog also looked at tailors and shops offering alterations and the number of schools offering instruction in fashion-related fields.
It’s not stated, but there might be something about being located on Interstate 25 (or its extension into West Texas on Interstate 10) because El Paso was named the third worst-dressed city in the nation, and going in the other direction, Colorado Springs was No. 2 on the list.
Other cities on the list included: 1) Wichita, Kan.; 4) Jacksonville, Fla.; 5) Louisville, Ky.; 6) Tulsa, Okla.; 8) San Antonio, Texas; 9) Milwaukee, Wis.; and 10) Indianapolis, Ind.
