After four seasons, Mark Senteney has resigned as the head basketball coach of the Capital boys basketball program, confirmed Santa Fe Public Schools athletic director Kim Loomis.
“He submitted his letter of resignation Monday morning,” Loomis said Wednesday. “… He indicated that he had met with Channell Wilson-Segura — the principal at (Capital High School) — who indicated to him that the position would be posted as open, and then he resigned.” Calls from the Journal to Senteney were not returned. Capital finished this past season with a 22-9 record, including a fourth straight appearance in the Class 4A state quarterfinals, which was the furthest the team advanced under Senteney’s tenure. Loomis said that once Senteney’s resignation letter is received by the Santa Fe Public Schools human resource department, the search for a boys’ varsity basketball coach will begin. Interviews for the vacant girls’ soccer and volleyball coaching positions will be conducted next week, Loomis added.
