If you’re an Albuquerque resident wanting to report a lost dog, schedule a trash pickup or file a weed complaint, there’s now an app for that.
The city has initiated ABQ311, an application accessible on iOS and Android platforms, as well as online, that allows residents to make reports 24/7 on their smartphones or computers. “This is about creating innovated approaches to everyday issues,” Mayor Richard J. Berry said Thursday in announcing the new service. “Not only does this improve efficiencies within the city, but it provides a platform for addressing community issues with cost-effective technology.” ABQ311 can be used to report weed complaints, potholes, abandoned vehicles, lost pets, and graffiti. It can also be used to request large-item trash pickup, missed trash pickup or a residential trash container. Computer users can visit the city of Albuquerque’s ABQ311 Web page at www.cabq.gov/311/abq311. Although the city paid $13,000 to initiate the service, Berry said the program pays for itself after 6,000 reports by reducing other costs.
