Honda dealership always strives for perfection

At Perfection Honda the goal is to live up to the dealership’s name.

And as a testament to success in that endeavor, Perfection was recently named one of Honda’s President’s Awards that goes to the top 15 percent of the dealerships nationally.

“It’s a huge honor,” said Perfection’s Brady Lovelady. “It’s definitely something we shoot for.”

Perfection Honda What you didn’t know The dealership: Brady Lovelady has a law degree from the University of New Mexico and began his career as a prosecutor in the Farmington area. Favorite vehicle: Honda Ridgeline pickup truck Upcoming promotions: “Every month we try to come up with something exciting,” Brady Lovelady said.

It’s the third time since Honda began the recognition program in 1995 that Perfection has been honored.

“Earning the President’s Award is no small feat,” said John Mendel, Honda executive vice president for automobile sales. “It requires total commitment from every team member for the entire calendar year.”

The award is based on the dealership’s ability to meet customers’ needs in service and sales, as well as in training of employees.

Meeting those needs is so ingrained at the dealership that “it’s part of the mission statement,” Lovelady said.

Lovelady, who has been assuming an ever-greater role in running the dealership that his stepfather, Stuart Rappaport, established 30 years ago in the Northeast Heights, said one of the secrets to the dealership’s success is the ability to find and retain quality employees.

“We have people who have been here more than 20 years,” he said. “Our turnover is very low and that’s important for continuity in any business. When we hire somebody we make sure we’re hiring the right person.”

It helps create a welcome atmosphere of trust, Lovelady said.

“It’s nice to see a familiar face because so much of business is about building relationships,” he said. “I think it’s critical.”

The dealership has been perched near the top of the hill on N.M. 528 just south of the Rio Rancho city limits since moving its new-car sales operation there in 2005.

The location allows it to tap the growing West Side market as well as Rio Rancho, while its old location on Academy NE has been used for service and selling used cars.

“It’s worked out really well because we’ve had a lot of loyal customers on the other side town and we’re still able to take care of their needs,” Lovelady said. “And here we’re in a great position to serve the growth areas of the city.”
