AFD responds to residential fire

Albuquerque Fired Department crews were responded to a single story residential structure fire at 4604 Eighth St. NW. shortly after 10 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, crews saw black smoke coming from the house.

It took units about 15 minutes to locate and extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was contacted to help the family.

The fire was by the furnace and extended up into the attic space. The cause of the fire is unknown and no further information is available at this time.
