Cowgirl standouts selected to RMAC academic teams

A pair of New Mexico Highlands student-athletes landed on this past season’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field All-Academic teams.

Danisha Phipps and CiCi Cordova were selected for the 2013 RMAC All-Academic First Team and the 2013 RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, respectively.

Phipps, a business administration major, currently has a 3.82 grade-point average.  This past season, the junior from St. Mary’s Jamaica Phipps took first place in the pentathlon at the RMAC indoor track and field championships, which qualified her for the NCAA DII National Championships.

Cordova, an elementary education major, currently has a 3.65 GPA .  The junior from Rio Ranchofinished the indoor season with a third-place finish in the pole vault during the conference meet. The Cowgirls concluded the indoor season with their best finish in school history, placing second in the RMAC.

Highlands coach Bob DeVries was also selected as both the RMAC and South-Central Region Women’s Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.
