The same Bank of the West branch on West Central was robbed for the second time in two weeks, and authorities are investigating whether the same man is responsible for both heists.
About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, witnesses said a man entered the bank in the 5000 block of Central SW, near Old Coors, and handed the teller a note demanding money, an FBI news release said.
The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money, and he got on a bicycle and headed east on Central and south on Cypress Drive.
He was described as Hispanic or black, about 6 feet tall and slender. He wore sunglasses, a cap with a white design on the front, a dark-hooded sweatshirt with a white cross over the heart and an image of what appears to be Jesus on the back. He also wore blue jeans and black-and-white sneakers.
Authorities are investigating whether the suspect might be responsible for a robbery that occurred at the same bank on March 25. “That’s one of the things we can’t conclusively say at this time,” FBI spokesman Frank Fisher said.
