C’MON PEOPLE, WAKE up. A new market is opening on the “westside?” N.M. 528 and Ellison is not the “westside.” That is the Cottonwood area or in actuality “The Northwest Mesa.” Quit referring to it as the “westside” or “West Mesa.” The West Mesa stretches from Paradise Hills south to Rio Bravo. — P.M.
GEEZ, I CANNOT believe all this discussion with people too stupid to use a traffic circle. To those I say, don’t ever drive a car anywhere in Europe. And why does the council put so much stuff up for discussion? This is public safety, the council is responsible to the public to make proper decisions. For example, the red-light cameras should never have been put to a vote. We need red-light cameras! — S.A.G.
IT’S A SAD DAY when long-time merchants (Baillios) in Albuquerque shut their doors. What’s hard to understand is why the landlord would rather have an empty building than compromise on the lease with the tenant, instead choosing to raise the rent, leaving the long-time tenant no choice but to call it quits. This is happening all over our fair city, very sad. — S.C.B.
THE FIVE MOST dangerous intersections according to APD: Jefferson and Paseo del Norte; Coors and Paseo del Norte; Montgomery and Wyoming; Montgomery and San Mateo; and Coors and Montano. Why aren’t they getting roundabouts before Candelaria/Rio Grande? — B.M.
CNM STUDENTS use taxpayers’ dollars to publish a sex manual disguised as a newspaper, even though there isn’t a journalism course there. Someone should have mentioned “responsible journalism.” I want my money back. — L.A.G.
THE LOCAL MEDIA referred to the couple that were victims of a home invasion as “elderly.” She is 68! He is 70 and that is pushing it for “elderly.” I venture most of the lawmakers are at least that old. Nobody calls them “elderly.” Or how about you editors? Most people in their 60s are still out here trying to work. Give us a break! — K.M.
