Following are All-District basketball selections for the 2012-13 season from Rio Rancho, Cleveland, Cibola, Volcano Vista, Valley, West Mesa, St. Pius, Bernalillo and Bosque School:
District 1-5A
BOYS: Regular-season champion Cibola put three players on 1-5A’s first team — wings Preston Bungei and Josh Sanchez, and post Ross Buchman.
Volcano Vista guard Sam Haywood was the leading vote-getter in 1-5A, just ahead of Rio Rancho’s Josh Lucero. Haywood was on the first team with teammates Eric Lee and Matty Martinez.
Lucero, and fellow guards Brady Patterson and Jeremy Swafford, were the Rams’ first-team selections.
Guards Marcus Williams, Kaydon Sneed and Josh Marsh made the first team from Cleveland.
GIRLS: Cibola senior post Kassandra Harris was the Player of the Year, and one of four Cougars on the first team.
Guards Kim Chapman, Jordyn Castellano and Dichelle Burrell joined Harris on the first team.
Second-place Volcano Vista put Hannah Fenske, Raven Herrera and Bianca Perez on the first team.
Forward Courtney Lawson and point guard Karlie Peck were Cleveland’s two first-team choices, while Rio Rancho had three in Ally Salata, Deanna Lucero and Santana Orozco.
Cibola’s Lori Mabrey was 1-5A Coach of the Year.
District 5-5A
BOYS: Junior guards Joe Anaya and Adonis Saltes were first-team choices from regular-season champion Valley. Guard Robert Armijo was on the second team.
West Mesa didn’t have a first-team choice, but had Jason Baca and Marc Mosely on the second team.
GIRLS: District champ Valley had three players on the first team — Jordan Gutierrez, Nina Greene and Marina Tafoya.
From West Mesa, Rae Davison and Monique Martinez were also on the first team.
District 5-4A
BOYS: St. Pius senior point guard Micah Sanchez was 5-4A’s Player of the Year; teammate Nic Stafford, a senior forward, was voted to the first team, with Larry Walden, Brandon Altamirano and Joe Sanchez named to the second team.
Damian Segura of the Sartans was chosen Coach of the Year.
GIRLS: St. Pius guard Natalie Zamora was the district’s Most Valuable Player. The first-team choices from the Sartans were Caitlyn Martinez, Amanda Sanchez and Mary Carpenter.
District 2-4A
BOYS: Guards Brandon Saiz and Tristan Arnett from Bernalillo were on the All-District first team. Aaron Griffith and Alan Rodriguez were named to the second team.
GIRLS: Deanna Lopez was Bernalillo’s only representative. Lopez was voted to the second team in 2-4A.
District 3-2A
BOYS: Bosque School had four players on an all-encompassing first team, led by scoring guard Andres Rivera. He was joined by Justin Helman, Gabe Chavez and Miles Horton.
GIRLS: Guard Louisa Mackenzie was the Bobcats’ lone All-District representative.
