Road rage incident near Grants leaves one dead

One person died as a result of a “road rage incident” on Interstate 40 near Grants, according to State police.

The man’s name had not been released Sunday night pending notification of next of kin.

He allegedly rammed the left side of a red Volkswagen, driven by Bradley Garman, 31, of McHenry Ill., after Garman sped up to get away from him as they headed west on I-40, according to a news release from State police.

The man lost control, traveled across the median into oncoming traffic, and was struck head on by a Nissan van driven by Paul Nolan, 42, of Paradise, Calif.

The man was ejected from his vehicle and landed on the north shoulder of I-40 west.

State police say it appears the man was under the influence of alcohol. Road rage and aggressive driving may have also contributed to the crash, police said.
