Pro Musica begins classic weekend
Violinist Chad Hoopes, along with piano accompanist Dina Vainshtein, will perform Johannes Brahms’ Sonata No. 2 in A Major, J.S. Bach’s Sonata No. 1 in G Minor, BWV 1001, Sergei Prokofiev’s Five Melodies, Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Three Pieces and Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, 211 W. San Francisco, Santa Fe.
It is part of Santa Fe Pro Musica’s Spring Classic Weekend.
Events will continue at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 13 and 3 p.m. April 14 when Hoopes, with the Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra, perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major. The Pro Musica Orchestra will conclude the program with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No 3, also known as “Eroica.”

Wheels Museum honors mayor
The Wheels Museum in Downtown Albuquerque will hold its annual fundraising gala, this year honoring Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry, on April 20.
Events will begin with an auction at 5 p.m. and a dinner buffet by Blue Place Special at 7 p.m. Preferred dress is “swingy.”
Special guest will be Bill Anderson, present and general manager of KRQE Media.
New exhibits, including a 0-scale treat set, World War II dioramas and a real rail repair car from Albuquerque, will be on display.
Proceeds will benefit work to redevelop the rail yards and the historic steam locomotive repair shops Downtown.
The event will be at 1100 Second SW. Take Central to Second, turn south about eight blocks to the location.
