‘Hero’ nominations sought

Fidelity Investments is seeking nominations for the metro area’s unsung “Heroes in Education” program.

Nominees could be teachers, students, volunteers, business owners, organizations, or elected officials — basically anyone who is a champion for education and whose story may inspire others to action.

Fidelity, in a news release, said these heroes will be recognized in a full-page profile in an issue of the Albuquerque Journal’s Monday Business Outlook. They also will receive a small grant in their name to the educational organization of their choice, and be celebrated at a reception later in the year.

If the nominee has a full-time job in education, please explain what the individual does that is “above and beyond” the scope of his or her job requirements.

Candidates, according to Fidelity, should:

⋄  Be focused on K-12 education.

⋄  Have an impact on more than one person.

⋄  Not have been formally recognized in the past.

Nominations will be considered through June 1.
