New clues turn up with Vado remains

VADO (AP) — Dona Ana County sheriff’s officials say a second search of an area where skeletal remains were found last month has turned up new clues that they hope will help them identify the victim.

A hiker in the Vado area found a human jawbone and other remains on March 22. Since then, investigators have been following leads and checking missing person reports.

And another search of the area turned up a belt buckle, a shoe and a baseball cap. Officials say the cap is gray, with the No. 29 on the front and the name of NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick on the back.
