SHAME ON GOV. Martinez for her veto of all seven good education bills passed by the legislators who represent the wishes of our citizens. Her misinformed and misguided agenda is doing great harm to our public schools, our hardworking teachers and, most especially, our children and future. – M.L.A. ISSAC BENTON should butt out of the roundabout discussion and pay attention to his own district. – E.E. WE SHOULD REJOICE because the city tax increases that we’ll soon be paying are a small price to pay considering all the new jobs that will be coming to New Mexico as a result of that hefty tax cut handed to the job creators by our leaders in Santa Fe. – K.M.C. I WONDER if allowing your kids out late at night, riding around with alcohol in a car, could be considered child abuse? And if not, why not? – SNB THANK YOU Jerry Jones! Having Tony Romo in the game is like having the 12th man on the field for the opposing team. Nobody in the NFL is better than Tony Romo when it comes to throwing interceptions. He’s a real klutz. – E.R.N. THANK YOU TO the team at Sunrise Veterinary Clinic for the wonderful care you gave my kitty, Elliott, my buddy. You helped him to fight bravely but it was time to go. You allowed him grace, peace and dignity while passing. Beth, Calvin and I thank you so very much. – J.M.R. THE ALBUQUERQUE Journal, on the 28th, reeked of perfume. I believe the scent, from fragrance ads, is supposed to be contained, but it was not. Some people get severely ill from perfumes and cologne. The number seems to be increasing. Migraines, asthma attacks and so on are serious concerns. – B.C. GMO FOODS NEED to be labeled! I don’t want to be eating mysterious foods with genes from other organisms, like flounder-infused tomatoes, without at least knowing what kind of sick science experiment my body is going to digest. Let the truth be told so people can decide for themselves what they want to eat. – J.P. IF THE WATER authority board were truly serious about universal conservation, it would push hard for control of water use by people with private wells. Some of them water acres of grass and gardens, have large uncovered pools and don’t abide by any restrictions. Fairness and success calls for total compliance. – M.H. WE ARE LIVING in another Sodom and Gomorrah. If this country believes that living with no morals and outside of what God has commanded, then all I can say is, I pray for you! – J.H. THANK YOU, JOURNAL, for publishing the op-ed on “Modified Foods Need To Be Labeled” (March 28). It is so important for consumers to know what is in their food and genetically engineered foods are a great unknown as far as their effect on people and the land is concerned. Information is crucial! – T.W. THANK YOU, THANK you, to the person who turned in my purse from the Sam’s Club parking lot that I left in the cart. It is so nice that there are still such honest and good people in our city. I just can’t tell you how much it was appreciated. – M.B. |
