Buy a Corvette, Recycle Your Old Computer

You may have seen my story in today’s paper about Santa Fe’s plans to auction off 151 cars this Saturday at a city lot on 1142 Siler Road. Most were seized under a vehicle forfeiture program targeting repeat drunken drivers, and officials promise there’s more than a few good deals to be had.

And why not kill two birds with one stone? The city also happens to be co-sponsoring an e-waste recycling event at the same time and nearly the same place.

People can drop off old computers, printers, cell phones, DVD players and other items at 1142 Siler between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  at no charge. Keep Santa Fe Beautiful and Albuquerque Recycling Inc. are also participating.

For those concerned all the excitement might present parking issues, I’ve been told there’s plenty of room for all.

For more information on the e-waste recycling event, call Gilda Montaño at 955-2215, e-mail Sfbeautiful@santafenm.gov or visit keepsantafebeautiful.org.
