Updated: APD sgt. pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide

APD Sgt. Adam Casaus must report to jail by Friday to be photographed and fingerprinted. State District Judge Kenneth Martinez on Tuesday ruled that prosecutors have probable cause to take Casaus to trial on felony charges of vehicular homicide by reckless driving and great bodily injury by vehicle involving reckless driving.

Pretrial testimony postponed in Levi Chavez case

Members of Tera Chavez’s family, her friends and others were expected to testify this afternoon during a pretrial hearing in the murder case against her husband, former APD officer Levi Chavez, but the judge postponed hearing testimony until a later date.
APD officers walk by bullet casings found this week near Marble and San Pedro. Crimes reported to police were up 5 percent in 2012.

Duke City crime rate inches up
