Deposition of Archbishop Robert F. Sanchez
Plaintiffs' attorneys took the following deposition from former
Archbishop Robert F. Sanchez over four days in January 1994. The deposition was taken as part of civil suits against the
Archdiocese of Santa Fe alleging sexual abuse of children by priests.On Tuesday, the state Supreme Court refused to consider a request
from Sanchez and the Archdiocese to block release of the deposition.The Albuquerque Journal and others had sought to make the document
public. District Judge Susan Conway agreed, but removed some material, from single lines to entire pages, to protect individuals' privacy. The Court of Appeals
affirmed her decision.The following transcript was provided to the Albuquerque Journal in
