Mayor's Ball Aids BioPark, Autism

Journal Staff Report
The mayor's annual charity ball this year will raise money for autism, the BioPark and efforts to help victims of domestic violence.
The theme is "Australia," and attendees will be encouraged to wear their best "down under" attire, whether it be casual or fancy.
The "Gala in Australia" is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, at the Rio Grande Zoo. Tickets are $125 a person, and tables for 10 are $1,000 to $1,300.
A reception starts at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. Afterward, there will be martini tasting, an auction and dancing. Renowned harpist Victor Espinola and his band will provide music.
Mayor Martin Chávez hopes to raise $200,000 for the Autism Center at the University of New Mexico, the city Family Advocacy Center and the New Mexico BioPark Society.
